Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about ScanGo

What is ScanGo?

ScanGo is a mobile earnings tracker designed specifically for gig economy delivery drivers. It helps you scan delivery receipts with cloud-based AI vision, track shifts across any delivery employer, log your deliveries, and generate tax-ready reports. It's not a delivery platform — it's your personal finance tool for delivery work.

How does receipt scanning work?

Simply point your phone's camera at a delivery receipt. ScanGo 2.0 uses Claude Haiku 4.5 vision running in our Cloud Function to extract the merchant, customer name, full delivery address, postcode, subtotal, delivery fee, total, and receipt date — then drops the entry into your active shift. You can edit any field afterwards or enter deliveries manually if you prefer.

No vision model runs on your device, so battery impact is minimal. Brand detection is region-aware — even when a platform doesn't print its own name on the receipt, ScanGo picks the right brand based on your region.

What delivery platforms does ScanGo support?

ScanGo's AI vision extracts data from receipts issued by virtually any delivery platform — Just Eat, Foodhub, Deliveroo, Uber Eats, DoorDash, and the long tail of regional brands. Brand detection logic lives server-side, so accuracy improves over time without needing an app update.

Employer templates (for pay structure and shift tracking) are separate from receipt parsing — you can create templates for any company using your own pay rate and model (hourly, hourly + delivery fees, flat rate, or flat rate + delivery fees).

Is ScanGo free?

Yes, ScanGo is free to download. There are four tiers:

Guest (no sign-in needed) — up to 3 completed shifts and 3 scheduled shifts, 1 employer template, 3 receipt scans per day. Banner and interstitial ads are shown.

Free (sign in with Google, Apple, or email) — up to 5 completed shifts and 5 scheduled shifts, 1 employer template, 5 receipt scans per day. No banner ads; occasional interstitial ads.

Pro — £8.99 one-time — unlimited shifts, scheduling, employer templates, and receipt scans. No ads. Includes custom receipt parsers, floating address overlay, one-tap PostTag handoff for hard-to-find addresses, HMRC & IRS tax export, ledger search and CSV export, re-delivery and expense tracking, and multi-region support. Never expires.

Cloud+ — £1.99/month or £19.99/year (requires Pro) — adds live real-time sync across all your devices, settings and custom parsers synced, and a 60-day grace window so an expired subscription holds at Pro level rather than dropping all the way back to Free.

Where can I download ScanGo?

ScanGo is available on the Google Play Store for Android devices. Visit ScanGo on Google Play to download it for free. The Android app requires Android 8.0 or newer.

An iPhone version is coming soon. ScanGo 2.0 is built in Flutter as a single codebase, so the iOS release will ship with full feature parity to Android. Head to our contact page to be notified when it goes live on the App Store.

Does ScanGo help with taxes?

Yes! The Pro tier includes tax export for both the UK (HMRC) and the US (IRS). UK exports cover the April 6 – April 5 tax year and include income summary, mileage allowance at HMRC's 45p/mile rate, working hours, miscellaneous expenses, and a full delivery-by-delivery breakdown. US exports use the IRS flat mileage rate (72.5¢/mile for 2026, updated annually in the app) and the January–December tax year. More regions are planned as regional rollout continues.

Note: tips tracking is planned for a future release and is not currently in the app.

Is my data safe?

Absolutely. All data is stored locally on your device by default. Cloud backup is optional (Pro/Cloud+ feature) and uses Firebase with industry-standard encryption. We never sell your data, and you can delete everything at any time. Your earnings are your business.

Do I need to be a full-time delivery driver?

No! ScanGo works for part-time, full-time, and occasional delivery drivers. Whether you deliver a few hours a week or 40+ hours, the app scales to your needs.

Will ScanGo work on my phone?

Android — ScanGo is live on the Google Play Store for devices running Android 8.0 or newer. Some features (exact-time shift reminders) require Android 12+.

iPhone — coming soon. ScanGo 2.0 is built in Flutter as a single codebase, so iOS will launch with full feature parity to the Android version (iOS 14 or newer required). Sign up through the contact page to be notified at launch.

The app works best on devices with decent camera quality for optimal receipt scanning.

How many receipts can I scan per day?

ScanGo 2.0 uses a daily scan quota: Guest gets 3 scans per day, Free gets 5, and Pro and Cloud+ are unlimited. The quota resets at midnight in your local time zone.

If you're on Guest or Free and want extra scans, you can earn AI-scan tokens by watching an optional rewarded video ad. These tokens stockpile up to a cap and let you scan beyond your daily quota. It's entirely user-initiated.

What is the floating address overlay?

The floating address overlay is a Pro feature on Android that displays a small, draggable address bar above all other apps on your screen — including your navigation app. It shows the customer's house name or number and street name for your current delivery, so you can see exactly where you're headed on approach without unlocking your phone, opening ScanGo, or searching through paper receipts while navigating.

It works as an Android foreground service, so it persists while you use Google Maps or any other navigation app. You can drag it anywhere on screen and its position is saved. On first use you'll be guided through granting the "Draw over other apps" system permission. Dismiss it once you've completed the delivery.

On iPhone, system-level overlays of this kind aren't permitted by Apple, so the iOS release will surface the same address through a Live Activity / lock-screen widget instead.

How does ScanGo help me find hard-to-find addresses?

Every delivery driver knows the addresses that eat your shift: the flat above the chip shop with no separate door number, the third caravan down a farm track, the new-build estate that doesn't exist on Google Maps yet, the block of flats where the postcode covers fifty front doors. Standard mapping apps drop you on the street and leave you to guess — nearly 60% of UK households sit about a football pitch away from where standard navigation puts the pin.

ScanGo integrates with PostTag, the precision address finder used by Evri, Domino's, Addison Lee, Gophr, and 100,000+ UK drivers and riders. After a receipt scan auto-fills the customer address, tapping the PostTag button on the Capture screen — or on any past delivery from the Today and ledger screens — copies address line 1 + postcode to the clipboard and launches the PostTag app with that address ready to look up. PostTag cross-references the Postcode Address File, Ordnance Survey, and its own destination data to point you at the actual door, on average 145m closer than what mapping apps return.

The PostTag handoff is a Pro feature. PostTag itself is a free third-party app — if you don't have it installed, ScanGo prompts you with a direct link to the Play Store (Android) or App Store (iOS) so you can install it in a tap.

Does ScanGo support multiple regions and currencies?

Yes. ScanGo currently supports the United Kingdom (GBP, HMRC tax export) and the United States (USD, IRS tax export). Canada (CAD), Australia (AUD), Germany (EUR), and France (EUR) are coming soon.

The region setting controls currency symbol and formatting, postcode/ZIP validation, date format, tax authority name, mileage unit (miles vs km), and tax year start date.

The first region is free for all users. Each additional region requires a one-time £1.99 region unlock purchased via Google Play (Pro tier only). Once unlocked, a region is permanently unlocked. Cloud+ users have their unlocked regions synced across all devices, so unlocks persist across reinstalls and new devices.

What languages does ScanGo support?

ScanGo 2.0 ships with six fully-translated languages at launch — English, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Czech, Urdu, plus the English base — with a further 71 languages staged for rollout. Languages still in translation are listed under "Coming soon" in the in-app picker.

Full right-to-left interface layout is supported for Arabic, Urdu, Farsi, and Pashto. You can change the language from within the app at any time, independently of your device's system language.

Can I track work for multiple delivery employers?

Yes. Pro and Cloud+ users can create unlimited employer templates, each with its own company name, pay model (hourly, hourly + delivery fees, flat rate per shift, or flat rate + delivery fees), base pay rate, and notification lead time for rostered shifts.

Guest and Free users can configure one employer template. At least one employer template must be set up before you can start your first shift.
